Hannah Hughes
Hannah Hughes is Senior Lecturer in International Politics and Climate Change in the Department of International Politics at the University of Aberystwyth. She is the author of The IPCC and the Politics of Writing Climate Change (Cambridge UP, 2024). Her research and teaching are motivated by a deep concern for the state of the environment and the political, economic and social institutions that produce and sustain degrading human and planetary relations. She has explored these problems through the role and relationship between knowledge, power and environmental action in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and collaboratively with Dr Alice Vadrot in the the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), conceptualising these global assessment bodies as sites where negotiations of climate change and biodiversity start.
